Mark Goodacre is Professor of Religious Studies at Duke University, North Carolina, USA. He earned his MA, M.Phil and DPhil at the University of Oxford. His research interests include the Gospels, the Apocryphal New Testament, and the Historical Jesus. Goodacre is the author of four books including The Case Against Q and Thomas and the Gospels. He is well known for his web resources on New Testament and Christian origins, including his podcast, the NT Pod. Goodacre has acted as a consultant for several TV and radio programs including The Passion (BBC / HBO, 2008) and Finding Jesus (CNN, 2015-17). He is currently working on a book on John's knowledge of the Synoptic Gospels.

Jodi Magness (JodiMagness.org) is the Kenan Distinguished Professor for Teaching Excellence in Early Judaism in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and past President of the Archaeological Institute of America. Magness received her B.A. in Archaeology and History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Pennsylvania. Magness’ research interests focus on Palestine in the Roman, Byzantine, and early Islamic periods. Three of her books have won awards: Masada: From Jewish Revolt to Modern Myth (Princeton: Princeton University, 2019); The Archaeology of Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 2002; revised edition 2021); and The Archaeology of the Early Islamic Settlement in Palestine (Winona Lake, IN: Eisenbrauns, 2003). Her latest book, Jerusalem Through the Ages: From Its Beginnings to the Crusades (Oxford University Press) is scheduled to appear in print in spring 2024. Since 2011, Magness has directed excavations at Huqoq in Israel’s Galilee (huqoq.org).

Candida Moss is the Edward Cadbury Professor of Theology at the University of Birmingham. The prize-winning author of nine books on various aspects of the New Testament and Early Christian history, she has also written for the New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Atlantic Monthly, Politico, CNN, and Slate. She is a columnist for the Daily Beast and works as a Papel News Contributor for CBS News. 

Dr. Robyn Faith Walsh is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami (UM). She earned her Ph.D. at Brown University in Religions of the Ancient Mediterranean, with a focus on early Christianity, ancient Judaism, and ancient Mediterranean archaeology. Before Brown, she attended Harvard Divinity School where she studied the New Testament and Roman archaeology. Her first monograph, The Origins of Early Christian Literature: Contextualizing the New Testament within Greco-Roman Literary Culture, was published with Cambridge University Press in 2021. She is also the author of several book chapters and articles on Roman book culture, diaspora archaeology, and various theoretical approaches to religion. Dr. Bart D. Ehrman has written or edited thirty-three books, including six New York Times bestsellers:  How Jesus Became God, Misquoting Jesus, God’s Problem, Jesus Interrupted, Forged, and The Triumph of Christianity.  Bart is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he has taught thousands of students and won numerous awards.

Jennifer Knust is a scholar of religion who specializes in early Christian history and the religions of the ancient Mediterranean. Author of To Cast the First Stone: The Transmission of a Gospel Story (with Tommy Wasserman, Princeton 2018), Unprotected Texts: The Bible’s Surprising Contradictions about Sex and Desire (HarperONE 2011), and Abandoned to Lust: Sexual Slander and Ancient Christianity (Columbia 2005), she studies early Christian texts, their contexts, and their receptions. Her numerous articles, book chapters, and edited books address the materiality of texts, ancient sexualities, and the ethics of interpretation.

James Tabor is a retired Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he taught Christian origins and ancient Judaism for thirty-three years, serving as Chair of the Department for a decade. His Ph.D. is from the University of Chicago. He now devotes himself full-time to research, archaeological fieldwork, and publishing. Tabor previously taught at the University of Notre Dame and the College of William and Mary. Tabor combines his work on ancient texts with extensive field work in archaeology in Israel and Jordan. Since 2008 he has been co-director of the acclaimed Mt Zion excavation in Jerusalem and been involved in a half dozen other archaeological projects in the Holy Land over the past thirty years. In the early 1990s, he was involved in the release of the unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls and was one of the first scholars to examine and publish several very important ones. In 1995 he testified before the US Congress on the Waco tragedy, drawing upon his expertise in understanding ancient Biblical apocalyptic ideas. He has published ten books and over 100 articles, including: A Noble Death (1992), Why Waco (1995); The Jesus Dynasty (2006), and Paul and Jesus (2012). His latest book is forthcoming: The Lost Mary: From the Jewish Mother of Jesus to the Virgin Mother of God (Knopf 2024). Hugo Méndez is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, teaching New Testament and Early Christianity. His research highlights how Christians used invention, fabrication, and literary forgery as tools to advance religious agendas in antiquity. He is the author of The Cult of Stephen in Jerusalem: Inventing a Patron Martyr (Oxford University Press, 2022) and the co-author, with Bart Ehrman, of the forthcoming eighth edition of The New Testament: A Historical Introduction to the Early Christian Writings (Oxford University Press). He is currently completing a book project arguing that four biblical books—the Gospel of John and the letters of 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John—are a lineage of ancient literary forgeries.

Dale C. Allison, Jr. is the Richard J. Dearborn Professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary. He earned his MA and Ph.D. from Duke University. His academic research and publications include the historical Jesus, the Gospel of Matthew, Second Temple Judaism, and the history of the interpretation and application of biblical texts. He has written four volumes for the International Critical Commentary and two volumes for the Commentaries on Early Jewish Literature series. His book, Constructing Jesus, was selected as “Best Book Relating to the New Testament” for 2009–2010 by the Biblical Archaeology Society. He served for several years as the main New Testament editor for de Gruyter’s International Encyclopedia of the Bible and Its Reception and has been on the editorial boards of multiple academic journals. On a more popular level, he has written books on George Harrison, religious experience, death, and what might lie beyond. His books have been translated into several languages.

Amy Jill Levine ("AJ") is Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace and University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies Emerita at Vanderbilt. Her publications include The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus, Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi, and, with Marc Brettler, The Bible With and Without Jesus. With Brettler, she also co-edited The Jewish Annotated New Testament. She is the first Jew to teach New Testament at Rome's Pontifical Biblical Institute and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. AJ identifies as an unorthodox member of an Orthodox synagogue and a Yankee Jewish feminist who challenges exclusionary biblical interpretations.
