Joel Marcus is Emeritus Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Duke Divinity School. He is the author of the two-volume commentary on the Gospel of Mark in the Anchor Yale Bible Commentary series, of John the Baptist in History and Theology ( University of South Carolina Press), and of numerous articles on the parting of the ways between Judaism and Christianity. He lives in Durham, North Carolina.
